Plum Duff and Stuff started when I was living in Tasmania and I couldn’t afford a proper Christmas.  I faxed my Mum and asked her to send me the family Christmas pudding and marmalade recipes so I could sell them at the local markets. The marmalade recipe has been handed down through the family since 1849 and hasn’t changed but I have tweeked the pudding recipe to make it lighter & more flavoursome.

The markets were a success. I offered generous samples of the pudding to people to try and they sold really well.
Christmas was back on!

On my return to the UK I continued to make and sell the puddings.  The first year, I made 50 of them in my kitchen. As the number of puddings grew I started to use a tiny caravan. Now I hand make 5,000 puddings a year in a purpose built commercial kitchen and cold store.

My Mum cuts the calico, designs and prints the labels for the puddings and marmalade, as well as making Plum Duff & Stuff's preserves and fruit cheeses.  All the fruit comes from our own chemical-free gardens and Dad is the Beekeeper for our honey and beeswax. Both Mum and Dad have worked on the stalls over the years. It’s very much a family business.

We hate plastic and always have done. All the puddings are wrapped in silicon paper and calico. We use 100% recycled paper bags on the stall and give away calico bags with our biggest puddings.

We make 6 different sizes of Christmas pudding, from a pudding that serves up to 3 people to our largest that serves 16.

All our puddings are vegetarian and dairy free. The flours are organic, the vegetable suet is ethically sourced and entirely traceable, the eggs are totally free range, we use cane sugar in all our products and source delicious vine fruits for our puddings.

We love the fact that all Plum Duff & Stuff products are traditional yet cater for a range of dietary needs: wheat, gluten free, vegan wheat, vegan gluten free and kits suitable for diabetics with wheat or gluten free.

Our main motivation is to put a smile on people’s faces and we hope yours will be one of them.
